The ropes course, includes some 40 elements to
overcome including a balance beam, rickety bridges
and a zip track.
Other more traditional sports facilities include: a
college-regulation basketball court (left); a
pirate-themed 9-hole mini-golf course (lower left);
shuffleboard (below) and a jogging track (above).
At the stern is Spice H2O. This adults-only area is highlighted by a
large LED screen. It also has two hot tubs, a wading pool, a bar and
deck chairs.

Getaway has five multi-story waterslides. The Free Fall,
said to be the fastest waterslide at sea, is a drop slide where
the floor opens up beneath the guest who then plunges feet
first down the tube.
Also in this area is the Kids' Aqua Park, which includes
statues of Nickelodeon characters as well as fountains and
sprays (below)
Nearby is Sun Deck, for
those who are just looking to
relax in the sun on deck
chairs. Sun Deck also has its
own bar.
At one time, a cruise ship's outdoor
facilities were limited to the area
surrounding the main swimming
pool. On Getaway, the main pool
area is just the beginning.
Getaway's main pool area centers
around the Waves Pool. The area
contains the ship's largest swimming
pool, three large hot tubs, a
bandstand, and a bar as well as
several varieties of deck chairs.
Forward on Deck 17 is another distinct area, the Vibe Beach Club. This secluded area has its own bar, two whirlpools and
premium seating. There is an additional charge for passes to this area.
A feature unique to Getaway and Breakaway is The Waterfront surrounding Deck 8.
More than a traditional outdoor promenade, the Waterfront has two bars and outdoor
seating for several of the specialty restaurants. It is a pleasant place to stroll and some
guests use it to get their daily walking exercise rather than go to the ship's jogging track.
Guests can pause to play chess or to look through the powerful stationary binoculars or look
through the clear panels in the deck at the sea passing below (left).

PHOTO TOUR AND
COMMENTARY
Immediately aft of the Waves pool is a
second large pool. At first glance it
appears to be the terminus of the gigantic
waterslides that tower over it. However,
the pool is actually independent of the
waterslides.
Guests can also
walk the Plank -
- a beam that
extends out 8 feet
from the side of
the ship. It is
only 180 feet
above the sea. An
automatic camera
takes a photo to
document the
heroics of those
who venture out.
For those who want more
climbing fun, there is a
rock climbing wall
attached to the back of the
ship's funnels (left) and a
spider web cage,
complete with slide (right).
Guests can also bounce on
the bungee trampoline
(below).
