OVERVIEW
Norwegian Getaway is the sister ship to Norwegian
Breakaway. Physically, the two ships are much the
same and have many of the same features. However,
a conscious effort has been made to give the two ships
different characters. Thus, experiencing one ship is
not the same as experiencing the other.
The primary way Norwegian has made the two ships
different is by giving them different themes.
Breakaway was given a New York theme reflecting
her original homeport of New York, Getaway reflects
her original homeport of Miami. The vivid hull art
was created by Miami artist David “Lebo” La Batard
and the ship's godmothers are Miami icons - - the
Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders.
Over time, the intensity of the Miami-theme has been
toned down and Getaway has become more like her
fleetmates. Freestyle cruising is still the order of the
day. Signature restaurants such as Le Bistro, Cagney's
and the Garden Café are all present on Getaway.
Getaway's cruise experience very much follows the
new model of cruising pioneered not only by her
sister but by fleetmate Norwegian Epic and the two
Royal Caribbean Oasis class giants of the Seas and
Allure of the Seas. These ships not only offer the
guests a variety of quality dining options each night
but also a variety of quality entertainment
experiences. Evenings do not just revolve around
what is happening in the ship's theater as under the
traditional cruising model. On Getaway, full-length
Broadway shows, live musical performances, stand-
up comedy and a dinner theater are just some of the
entertainment options.
The ship offers a wide-range of accommodations
including the luxury ship within a ship Haven and the
studio enclave for solo passengers.

Just forward of the Guest Services Desk but in the same area is
the Cruise Consultant's Desk. The consultant provides
information on Norwegian cruises. He or she does not make
bookings for future cruises. Rather, he or she sells vouchers
that can be applied to secure future bookings with a reduced
deposit once the guest returns home. The vouchers also entitle
the guest to an onboard credit for the guest's current cruise.
The Cruise Consultant is also the onboard representative for
Norwegian's past passenger loyalty program.

Guests can make reservations, find
out what is happening around the
ships and learn how to get from one
place to another from interactive
electronic signs in the public areas.
678 Ocean Place is a shorthand
for Getaway's three main public
decks, i.e., Decks 6, 7 and 8. The
centerpiece of these decks is a giant
chandelier that hangs in one of the
ship's two atriums. It changes color
during the course of a day.
On the port side of Deck 6 across from the Atrium
are the desks where guests interact with the ship's
management.
The Guest Services Desk is like the reception
desk in a hotel. Senior hotel officers often stand
in the area in front of the desk in order to meet
the guests and assist with questions. Guests can
also make dinner reservations and look at menus
at the Restaurant Reservations Desk on the
starboard end of the Guest Services Desk.
Although Getaway actually has two atriums,
the forward atrium is usually the one being
referred to when people say the Atrium. It
is a crossroads, an entertainment venue and
essentially the ship's living room.
Connected to the Cruise Consultant Desk is The
Shore Excursions Desk where guests can
book tours in the various ports of call.
