Breakaway has a wide variety of high quality specialty
restaurants, varying in cuisine and in formality. (There is
a cover charge for each of the venues on this page).
Norwegian's first specialty restaurant was the
French-inspired fine dining venue Le Bistro. The
version on Breakaway sports a new more contemporary
decor that still has roots in late 19th century France.
On the starboard side of this area is a South American-style
steakhouse, Moderno Churrascaria. The meal begins with a
visit to the restaurant's well-endowed buffet for salads, soup and
appetizers. Then servers bring skewers of barbecued meats that they
carve table side. Guests control how much is served by using a green
card for more and a red card for stop.

Breakaway also has a version of La Cucina,
Norwegian's Italian Restaurant. The decor is not as
sophisticated as that on Norwegian Epic. Instead of
several smaller, more intimate areas, the dining areas
are larger, more similar to the family-style versions of
this restaurant on the Jewel class ships. However, the
menu retains the more upmarket style that was
implemented on Epic.
This La Cucina also has an outdoor section on the
Waterfront for al fresco dining.
A new venue on the Waterfront is the Dolce Gelato window, offering Italian-style ice cream. Just inside is
Carlos Bake Shop with cakes and tempting sweets. It was developed with Master Baker Buddy Valastro.

Norwegian collaborated with celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian to
develop three new concepts for Breakaway. The first is the
sophisticated Manhattan-style seafood restaurant Ocean Blue

items as Oysters on the Half Shell, Little Neck Clams, Lobster and
Salmon Tartare (above right). Outside on the Waterfront, Ocean
Blue takes on a different more informal persona for lunch, serving
lobster rolls and calamari (right).
