Going further aft you come to the
Sports Complex. Its most visible
feature is its extensive ropes course,
which includes some 40 elements to
overcome (above and left). Guests can
divert from the course to walk the
Plank - - a beam that extends out 8
feet from the side of the ship (above
and right). An automatic camera
takes a photo to document the event.
For more climbing fun, there is a rock
climbing wall attached to the back of
the ship's funnel.
Other sports facilities include a jogging track (left), a large
9-hole mini-golf course (lower left), a basketball court (below)
and trampolines (above).
All the way at the stern is Spice
H2O. This adults-only area is
highlighted by a large LED screen. It
also has two hot tuns, a wading pool, a
bar and deck chairs. One evening
during a cruise, there is a fireworks
display launched from here.

Just aft of the Waves Pool area is an area dominated by
Breakaway's five multi-story waterslides. Chief among
these are the Whip and the Free Fall. Also in this area is
another swimming pool and the Kids' Aqua Park, which
includes statues of Nickelodeon characters as well as
fountains and sprays (below)
For those who are just looking to relax in the sun,
Breakaway has numerous deck chairs.

BREAKAWAY
PHOTO TOUR AND
COMMENTARY
Norwegian Breakaway's outdoor facilities can be divided into
several distinct areas.
Traditionally, the heart of a cruise ship's outdoor facilities is the
midship, main swimming pool area. On Breakaway, the Waves
Pool area contains the ship's largest swimming pool, three large
hot tubs, a bandstand, and a bar as well as deck chairs.
On the forward part of the vessel on Deck 17
is the Vibes Beach Club. This secluded
area has its own bar, two whirlpools and
premium seating. There is an additional
charge for passes to this area.
A new outdoor venue on Breakaway
is The Waterfront. More than an
outdoor promenade, the Waterfront
has two bars, outdoor seating for
several of the specialty restaurants
and its own hot dog cart. It is a
pleasant place to stroll. Guests can
pause to look through the powerful
stationary binoculars (below) or look
through the clear panel in the deck at
the sea passing below (right).
