** The date indicates the date the ship entered service. The ship may have been renamed and/or refurbished
subsequent to that date. The dates indicated here are the dates the ship entered service for Costa. Costa Allegra
and Costa Marina first entered service for another line in the 1980s as container ships. Costa Europa first entered
service for another line in 1986.
*** Class relates to the design of the ship with the name of the class usually being taken from the first ship built from
that design. If one ship is listed as being in the same class as another, it indicates that those ships were built from the
same design. If no class is listed, the ship is the only ship of that design in the line's fleet.
The class names listed here show the ships class within the Costa fleet. Many of the Costa ships have sisters or
near-sisters outside of the Costa fleet. Costa Fortuna and Costa Magica are based on the Carnival Destiny class.
Pacifica, Serena, and Concordia are sisters to Carnival Splendor and fcan be traced back to the Carnival Destiny
design Costa Luminosa is based on the Vista class design of Holland America and has relatives with P&O Cruises
and with Cunard Line. Costa Atlantica and Costa Mediterranea are sisters of the Carnival Spirit class, which gave
rise to the afroementioned Vista class. Costa Victoria is the sister of Norwegian Sky of NCL.
