SPLENDOR
PHOTO TOUR AND
COMMENTARY
Carnival Splendor has two main
dining rooms - - the Gold Pearl
(above right, right and below) and
the Black Pearl (further below).
Ship designer Joe Farcus has
explained: "The central idea that
ties the rooms together is the
concept of sumptuous elegance. We
used elements like pearls, gold leaf
and wood grains to give the ship a
feeling of richness."
The menus in the two restaurants are the same. According to Hotel Director Guna
Chellam, "the Carnival food" is one of the reasons Carnival has so many repeat
passengers. Food and Beverage Manager Francis Mekkattukulam adds that the food "is
an ever evolving process. We take all the feedback we receive from guests and get a feel
for what the guests needs are. For example, we have included more healthy options."
The Gold Pearl is open for breakfast and dinner on port days. On sea days, it has a
comedy brunch and dinner. For dinner, it follows the traditional two-seating, assigned
table system. The Black Pearl is just open for dinner. Its lower level follows a flexible
system where guests can come anytime the restaurant is open. The upper level follows
the traditional system.
While the emphasis is on service, the waiters also perform - - singing and dancing at the
end of the meals.
Splendor's specialty restaurant is the Pinnacle Steakhouse.
This venue features a premium menu including dry aged, hand
cut USDA prime beef and 12-ounce lobster tails. An extra
charge applies.
Chief among the casual alternative dining is The Lido. This is an extensive buffet open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Adjacent to the Lido are a number of more specialized
casual venues. The Rotisserie overlooks the main
buffet from Deck 11.
By the Splendido Pool, there is the Pizzeria on the port side (above left) and the Grille on the starboard side (above right).
There are two buffet venues by the Liner Lido
Pool.

to order sandwiches.

Not all of the alternative dining venues are located near the pools.
On Deck 5, guests can have specialty coffee and pastries at the
Coffee Shop (above). The Taste Bar offers sample size dishes of
items served in the specialty restaurants in the Carnival fleet (below).
