Majesty of the Seas is the third of Royal Caribbean’s
Sovereign class of ships.  (Her sisters are Sovereign of the
Seas (now Pullmantur's Sovereign) and Monarch of the
Seas).  When she entered service, she was one of the
largest cruise ships in service.  Her innovative multi-story
atrium and large lounges made her state-of-the-art.  In the
two decades that have followed cruise ships have become
larger and larger with more and more features.
Nonetheless, Majesty remains a viable ship.

In 2007, Royal Caribbean invested $36 million in a major
refurbishment of the ship’s public areas.  This included
adding new casual dining venues, re-doing the spa, adding
conference facilities and re-designing the teen facilities.
In addition, the cabins were made over with new carpets
and flat-screen televisions.  The result was a re-vitalized
ship.

The ship remains well-maintained.  Her public areas are
clean and her late 20th Century decor seems to shine.

Majesty has also found herself a new market niche.  The
ship is now a leader in short-getaway cruising.  Each week
she does a three day cruise and a four day cruise from
Florida to the Bahamas.  Each day is a port day and most
passengers go ashore.  However, the ship has enough
features for those passengers who decide to stay aboard to
have a relaxing day in the sun.  In the evenings, there is
dining and entertainment.
