The Forward Atrium (above) could have
easily served as the centerpiece of the
ship.  However, it pales compared to the
ship's glamorous central atrium The
Piazza (below)
Captain Dino Sagani.
A replica of the coat worn by the Duchess of
Cambridge when she named the ship is
included in a display on Deck 5.
Royal Princess' permanent
art collection is composed
primarily of modern and
contemporary works.
Guests can go on a
self-guided tour of the
collection using their
smartphones or tablets by
scanning a OR code at each
work of art.

The halls outside the
passenger cabins are
decorated with photographs
taken by Princess
passengers of various
cruise destinations (right).

The Future Cruise Sales and Loyalty Desk is
located on Deck 7 near the Piazza (below).  Here,
guests can inquire about and purchase other Princess
cruises and meet with the onboard representative of
Princess' loyalty program, the Captain's Circle.
The Passenger Services Desk, the ship's reception desk, (above)
shares a lobby with the
Shore Excursions Desk (below)..
This ship is the third Princess ship to bear the name Royal Princess.  The
first was the first ship expressly built for Princess Cruises and was one of
the most innovative cruise ships of its time.  She is still cruising to day as
Phoenix Resin's
Artania.  The second was one of the eight jewel-like
R-class ships originally built for Renaissance Cruises.  She too is still
cruising as the
Adonia of P&O Cruises.  Thus, this ship bears a
prestigious name.

She also entered service in a prestigious way.   In a ceremony in
Southampton, England, she was named by the Duchess of Cambridge
shortly before she gave birth to Prince George.  Naturally, the world was
watching.

The ship is worthy of her name and of receiving such a high-profile
christening.  She is much bigger than any previous Princess ship at
140,000 gross tons.  However, she is not merely a bigger version of
previous Princess ships but an entirely new design.  One that is more
environmentally-friendly, with a fuel-efficient hull and propellers,
increased use of LED lighting and other energy savers.

Princess has made an effort to make its past passengers feel at home in
this new environment.  Many of the venues bear the same name as the
corresponding venues on other Princess ships.  Also, the use of light
woods and muted colors in many areas is reminiscent of other ships in the
fleet.  However, the design team led by Princess' Teresa Anderson has
used the spaciousness of the public areas to full advantage, creating a
glamorous, yet tasteful interior.

The cruise experience on Royal Princess is not a radical departure from
that found on other Princess cruise ships.  Instead, the line uses the
additional space and new technology to make the already successful
Princess cruise experience better than before.  Several new venues
augment and enhance the cruise experience but overall it remains the
Princess cruise experience - - sophisticated relaxation; informal but not
completely casual.
