FJORDS - OLDEN
Olden is a tiny village of about 1,000 people lying at
the end of the Nordfjord. It is a quiet place that
remains uncommercialized with most of the
inhabitants engaged in farming.
Cruise ships can dock in Olden at a pier not far from
is interesting to see life proceeding at a slower pace
than in the world's cities.
The most interesting thing about this walk is the
mountains that surround this valley. These are
jagged, rough and rocky peeks. They can be
enduring a howling winter storm while it is Spring
time in the valley below.
Olden is also a staging point for tours to the Birksdal
Glacier, that is 15 miles away. The way to the
glacier passes rivers and mountains formed by
glacial runoff that has a green color.
