OVERVIEW

A German-built ship, Aurora was designed with the British
market in mind.  The atmosphere and style of cruising
(traditional and more formal) is geared toward British tastes.
During most of the year, Aurora sails from Southampton,
England to a variety of  places such as the Baltic, the
Mediterranean, the Black Sea, the Atlantic islands, and
Northern Europe.  She even sails round trip transatlantic to
the United States and Canada.   For the most part, these are
longer cruises of two weeks or more but there are some
short cruises.  There is also a yearly world cruise.
Technologically, Aurora is well-suited for such voyages
with a bow that is relatively long and narrow, which makes
her better able to cut through the waves rather than bounce
over them.  In addition, the ability to travel at up to 24 knots
enables her to go far afield from her homeport in a
reasonable time.
Aurora's sleek bow and terraced stern make her an attractive
modern ship.  This is evident particularly when she is
underway.  Entering service in 2000, she is an improved
version of P&O's popular Oriana.
Inside, everything in Aurora is tastefully done.  There has
been no attempt to create spectacular features or to dazzle
guests with neon and glitz.  Rather, t he decor is modern but
restrained. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan and
sophisticated yet at the same time welcoming.

The  Atrium spans  four decks and is dominated
by a 35 foot high sculpture by John Mills.  The style
is reminiscent of Lalique glass and it is enhanced by
waterfalls.
