Norwegian Cruise Line is
well-known for its signature
Freestyle dining. Under this
system, guests can choose to eat
in one of the complimentary
dining venues or pay a nominal
fee for one of the specialty
restaurants. There are no assigned
tables or dining times, when to
eat is also up to the individual
passenger. (See also menus
The Star has two main dining rooms.
Versailles Main Restaurant, is a spectacular, large room
decorated in an ornate traditional European style. Located aft on
Deck 6, it is open for breakfast lunch and dinner. It can seat 474.
The Aqua Main Restaurant is somewhat smaller (it
seats 306) and is located forward of the Versailles on
Deck 6. (The main galley separates the two). In sharp
contrast to the Versailles, the Aqua is decorated in a 20th
century modern style, featuring minimalist, abstract
paintings on the walls.
Le Bistro, contrary to the name, is an upscale, elegant French-style
restaurant, not a bistro. It has two areas, the Wine Cellar area which
is out in the public space, giving it something of a sidewalk café feel.
The interior area is more secluded. Le Bistro is open for dinner and
has a $20 cover charge,
Giving Le Bistro competition for the title of Star's top specialty restaurant is Cagney's Steakhouse. Located high on Deck 13,
Cagney's has panoramic views over the surrounding sea on the port and starboard side. It is open for breakfast and lunch on a
complimentary basis to guests staying in the ship's suites. In the evenings, it is open to all and is a sophisticated American-style
steakhouse. There is a $25 cover charge for dinner. (See separate article).
Star has a complex of Asian-inspired restaurants together on Deck
7. The Sushi Bar offers sushi and tempura, priced ala carte
(above). The Teppanaki has one table and features chefs
performing as they prepare Japanese style dishes (right). It is
dinner-only and there is a $25 cover charge. (See separate article).
The main Ginza restaurant is an Asian fusion venue with
Thai/Japanese/Chinese fare (below). The cover charge is $15.
There is a window into the galley by the entrance of the restaurant.
La Cucina (the Kitchen in Italian) specializes in Italian comfort food such as pasta, pizza and other popular Italian fare.
(See separate article). Guests familiar with Norwegian's Jewel-class ships, will recognize that La Cucina on the Star
occupies the area on Deck 6 occupied by Le Bistro on th Jewel-class ships.
The Market Café is a self-service buffet with a variety of
stations including Made to order omlets, waffles, fruit, soup,
ethnic specialties and pasta (above). There is also a section set
aside as the Kids Café (right). Both are complimentary.
Outside in the main pool area is The Grill (below), which
features light fare.

The Moderno Churrascaria is also a steakhouse but it was inspired by the steakhouses in the Brazilian cattle ranching regions.
Rather than place an order for a particular cut of beef, the server comes to your table with large skewers of 10 different cuts of meat
and you decide which (or all) to have. (See separate article). There is a $20 cover charge for dinner.
Like the Moderno, the Blue Lagoon is on a balcony overlooking the ship's main lobby. Blue Lagoon features comfort food. It is
always open and is complimentary.
