The Explorations Café is difficult to categorize. It combines
elements of a library, an Internet center, a game area and a specialty
Nieuw Amsterdam's shops are located close together on Deck
3. Occupying a separate room is the luxury jewelry boutique
Merabella. The other shops resemble a department store in
that they are sections of a large room. Offerings include
watches, jewelry, clothing and souvenirs.

Nieuw Amsterdam has dedicated facilities
and programs for younger passengers.
Club HAL is for children 3 to 12. The
program is further divided into Kids ages
3 to 7 and Tweens ages 8 to 12. (See Youth
Keeping with Nieuw Amsterdam's New
York theme, Club HAL is decorated to
invoke New York and even includes a full
size New York City Checker Cab
The Loft is dedicated to teenagers and
provides a place to socialize, play games
and engage in activities such as video
editing. There is also a video arcade
The multi-purpose Hudson and Half Moon Rooms can be used for cards,
meetings and other activities.
The Digital Workshop offers classes in
various aspects of computers and digital
technology including editing photos and
making videos. The classes are conducted
by computer experts using Microsoft
programs. These tend to be very popular
and even though they are repeated several
times during a cruise, there are often more
students than seats. The classes are free.
