CARNIVAL
SENSATION
TOUR AND
COMMENTARY
The Atrium rises seven decks through
the center of the ship. A skylight at the
top provides light that gleams against
the polished metal outlining each level.
Sensation Boulevard is a long corridor
that links the public rooms on Promenade
Deck. Along the way, are tables and chairs by
the large windows on the starboard side.
The art on Carnival Sensation is
abstract and lively, consistent
with the ship's upbeat
atmosphere.

OVERVIEW
Carnival Sensation is the third of eight nearly-identical ships of
the Fantasy-class. Built in the 1990s, these ships have been the
workhorses of the Carnival fleet. While Carnival has gone on to
build larger and more luxurious ships, the Fantasy-class ships are
being re-invigorated through a multi-million dollar project known
as Evolutions of Fun. This program involves refitting the ships so
as to give them many of the features of the newer Carnival ships.
Following Hurricane Katrina, Carnival Sensation was loaned to
the United States government to serve as emergency housing for
six months. The ship was then given an extensive refit in 2007,
that refurbished all of the cabins including giving them all flat
screen televisions and updating the bathrooms. The public rooms
were also extensively renovated adding new features to the
theater, a new photo gallery, a new art gallery, and redoing
several of the lounges. A mini-golf course and a jogging track
were also added.
In 2009, Carnival Sensation underwent another extensive refit.
98 balconies were added to the ship, which heretofore had
relatively few balcony cabins. Also, the pool areas were changed
extensively adding a large children's Waterworks area, an
adults-only Serenity section and changing the character of the
main pool area.
Carnival Sensation offers short cruises to the Bahamas from
Florida. These tend to draw younger than average cruise
passengers including many young families.
The atmosphere onboard is upbeat and focused on having fun.

Prior to the 2009 Refit, Sensation had very few balcony
cabins (see above). However, in that refit three large
cabins in three sections of the ship were converted to
balcony cabins. A section of balcony cabins were
added at the stern (right) and on either side (below).
