Cruise ship photo essay- - Carnival Cruise Lines - - Carnival Liberty - - Carnival Liberty Comes Home
Dawn is just breaking on an early spring morning as
Carnival Liberty returns to her homeport of Miami, Florida.
A routine conclusion to a typical cruise.
The sun is still below the horizon but a red ribbon brightens the eastern sky.
Liberty's open decks are brightly lit but there
are only a few lights coming from the passenger
cabins as the ship glides past the cruise ship
terminals on Dodge Island.
The towers of the Miami skyline are still sleeping as Liberty arrives
at the turning basin where she will make a 180 degree turn so that her
bow will be pointed toward the sea when she docks at her cruise
Like a dancer, the ship spins around in her own length.
The sun fully illuminates the ship just as her
turn is completed.
The lights on her open decks now off, Liberty retraces her steps back toward the cruise terminal where she
will berth. The passengers are waking to have their breakfasts before departing and the crew is even now
preparing to receive the guests for the next cruise. The ship's graceful maneuver, witnessed by only a few
on the Liberty and on the ships lining Dodge Island, is forgotten in the tumult of disembarkation. Just a
routine maneuver needed to bring the ship home.
